Background
I was born and reared in a rural area in Ohio. I went to college at Cedarville University and at the University of Dayton. I have a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and spent a good deal of time challenging people in the area of athletics and fitness. Now God is using my passion for challenge and adventure to work at LeaderTreks and coach/train students to be leaders who are more devoted to Christ and the Great Commission.
How did you become a Christian?
I became a Christian as a freshman in college. A high school teacher led me to the Lord and mentored me in my faith. Since then many men have invested in me to disciple me and help me grow in my relationship with Christ.
What is a leadership lesson you have learned while serving at LeaderTreks?
I have learned the importance of being intentional with leadership, relationships, and growth. Nothing will happen unless time and energy are spent charting the course or focusing on accomplishing a mission.
What is one of your gifts and how do you use it?
My Leadership Type is a Mover. I love seeing teams accomplish goals and pushing them to discover how far they can push themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Who is one student that you have seen grow as a leader?
Clark was a student I had in the Dominican Republic who discovered that he was a leader. His peers all affirmed that he had influence in the group and they challenged him to be a leader in the youth group back home. In a course of two weeks I saw Clark learn to motivate his team through powerful words and servant leadership. He learned that leadership was about a set of skills and about being a person of consistent character.
