TITLE: Partnership Coordinator

Background
I was born in Michigan, but raised in the south—Georgia to be exact.  I went to Georgia College & State University where I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree and double majored in Biology and Outdoor Education.  During the summers in college, I worked as a cabin leader, unit leader, recreation director, and worship leader at a Christian camp located in North GA.  It was there that I received my calling into full-time ministry working with students.   Right after graduation, I served on my home church’s staff as Interim Youth Director and then finished out the year as Assistant Youth Director.

How did you become a Christian?
I became a Christian when I was 13.  I am sure I said the prayer many times when I was younger at VBS, but it wasn’t until I was at a camp when I was 13 that I heard the gospel in such a real way that I understood what it meant to be a Christian.  It was then that I decided to make a commitment to following Christ.

What is a leadership lesson you have learned while serving at LeaderTreks?
Since joining LeaderTreks one of the leadership lessons I have learned is the value of risk taking. Not being afraid to make mistakes, but to get out there and give my all. If I hold back or let fear of failure keep me from giving my all, then I am doing a disservice to God and all those around me.

What is one of your gifts and how do you use it?
My top spiritual gift is Mentoring.  I love being able to come alongside students and people, help them grow in their faith and in their capacity for ministry.  I currently have a small group of girls that I have a privilege of shepherding when I am not out on trips, but also being able to pour into students while out on trips and training events excites me!

Who is one student that you have seen grow as a leader?
Rick was a student leader for one of my trips this past summer.  He is one who speaks volumes through his actions, but was hesitant to speak in from of his team.  He was frustrated at certain moments when the team didn’t seem to be listening to him.  I challenged him to allow his team to see his heart when he communicates.  Later that week, I asked the student leaders to run their first team evaluation during team time.  It would have been very easy for him to let his co-leader run it, but I watched this young man step up, tackle his fear, and do an amazing job at leading his team in a time of evaluation!  More importantly, his team responded positively each time he spoke and was empowered to lead his team for the remainder of that week.  He learned that he is a leader worth following and that as a leader it is important to allow others to see your heart.

Family
My family lives in Georgia.  I am the oldest of four.  I have a brother who works at a theatre company in ATL, another brother who is currently attending GC&SU, and a litttle sister who is a senior in High School.  I had the priviledge of growing up in a Christian home.  My mom and dad are both tremendous examples of godly parents.  My dad specifically, through his spiritual leadership of our family has greatly influenced me and my personal walk.
